Managing Networks, instructor of record (2023), TA (2020, 2019)

This course is about how social relations – friendship, coworkers, team members, discussion partners, super/subordinates, family, etc. – affect organizational and management performance. Social network analysis (SNA) is the tool we use to examine these questions and the course is a mix of theory, methods, and application.

Social Networks and Health Workshop, instructor/mentor (2017-2024)

The NICHD Sponsored Social Networks and Health methods workshop is a week-long workshop aimed at introducing attendees to topics in social network analysis and how they can be applied to research on health and health policy. We alternate foundational and advanced topics annually; this year is a “foundations” year, so we assume no prior knowledge of networks or network methods.

Social Network Analysis Basics, guest lecturer (2019)

The goal of this Data Expedition was to introduce students to the exploration of social networks data using R. Students learned to load and plot a social network in R and then perform some basic analyses on two different networks: Hockey Fights in the National Hockey League in 2018-2019 and characters in Game of Thrones Season 3. Students used social network analysis to better understand who is connected to whom, how frequently they interact, and how they are interacting.
