Survival of Friendships

The goal of this paper is to develop an understanding from a network analysis perspective of how long ties (in this case, friendships) last, and what aspects of both the individuals in a friendship and the global school network might contribute to instability.

Cummulative Instability

We identify social network dynamics likely to engender alienation, focusing on rapid turnover in close ties. We argue that those with unstable friendships are likely to experience alienation and are therefore at greater risk of harming themselves or others.
